Artificial Intelligence and Digital Ophthalmology

Artificial intelligence and digital technologies are creating new opportunities across ophthalmic diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, and patient care. This session explores AI-assisted image analysis, automated screening, clinical decision support, remote eye care, and digital health platforms. Machine learning and deep learning approaches may assist in identifying retinal, glaucoma, diabetic, and other eye diseases. Discussions will also address teleophthalmology, remote monitoring, electronic health systems, and technology-supported patient management. Important considerations such as data quality, algorithmic bias, privacy, cybersecurity, clinical validation, and responsible implementation will be examined. Experts will discuss how AI can support ophthalmologists while maintaining appropriate professional judgment and patient safety. The session aims to explore practical and ethical applications of digital innovation.
