Retina and Retinal Disorders

The retina is a structure present in the back of our eye that senses light and sends images to our brain. In the center of this nerve tissue macula is present. It gives the correct, central vision needed for, driving,reading and watching in detail.

Retinal disorders affect this vital tissue. They can affect our vision, and some can be serious enough to cause blindness. Examples are                                                                                                                                                    

·         Retinoblastoma - cancer of the retina. It is most common in young children. Retinoblastoma - cancer of the retina. It is most common in young children.

·         Macular degeneration – It destroys our central vision

·         Diabetic eye disease

·         Macular hole - a small break in the macula that usually happens to people over 60

·         Retinal detachment - where the retina is pulled away from the back of the eye

Different age group generations, races and ethnicities are effected from, for instance, myopic macular degeneration, Age-related macular degeneration and Retinal degenerative disorders
